- in cases of excessive alcohol intake
- to people with neuritis, neuropathy;
- to people with chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (atrophic gastritis, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, etc.) and malabsorption, intestinal parasites, people with hypothyroidism, autoimmune disease (lupus, HIV);
- drug-induced deficiency with regular use of proton pump inhibitors (rabeprazole, omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole), H2 blockers (cimetidine, famotidine, ranitidine), antidiabetic drugs (metformin).
